Accounts Support Assistant (Hastings)

Our client is based in Hastings and is recruiting for an Accounts Support Assistant to join their team for a 6-month contact. They are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and computer literate person to support their Finance Team with daily accounting, bookkeeping and administrative duties.


Main Duties:

  • To assist the Accounts team with daily, monthly and yearly processes including adhoc administrative duties.

  • To assist the Accounts team in keeping the accounting records.

  • To report to the Accounts team leader regarding the day-to-day tasks associated with the accounts department.

  • Counting and preparing the takings from all sources connected to the companies.

  • Analyse income onto banking consolidation sheets in preparation for SAGE input.

  • Check supplier invoices received by iCompleat and arrange for appropriate authorisation and import into accounting programme.

  • Control of petty cash systems including the payment of staff and volunteers’ expenses.

  • Issuing floats for various functions as and when directed by Accounts Assistants.

  • Liaising/communicating with other departments regarding income received and other queries as required.

  • Dealing with queries in a timely and professional manner.

  • Carry out other duties associated with the finance department as directed by other members of the Accounts team and the Accounts and Payroll Team Leader.

  • Carry out duties with full regard to the Company’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policies.

  • Act as a responsible individual in relation to Health and Safety and be aware of the responsibilities of all employees to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors, staff and volunteers.

  • Ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest standard, and in accordance with current quality initiatives within the work area.

  • Carry out any other duties, within an appropriate level of responsibilities as required.

  • Undertake flexible hours as and when the need arises to maintain cover in the Finance Office.

  • Ensure confidentiality at all times.

  • Support and participate in the fundraising activities wherever possible.

  • Be an ambassador.

  • Ensure that the disclosure and use of confidential staff and company information is both lawful and ethical, and to recognise own responsibility for compliance with relevant legislation.

  • Promote, at all levels, the Company’s vision, values and strategic objectives.


Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent numeracy skills

  • Good literacy skills

  • Knowledge of Sage Account software

  • Knowledge of bookkeeping

  • Experience of working in an office

  • Good Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

  • Ability to work on own

  • Excellent communication

  • Ability to work to strict deadline

  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Able to move/lift coin containers, banking bags and coin floats from a low level

  • Able to stand for periods of time, if needed, to operate cash counting machines.


Working Hours:

  • Monday to Friday

  • 9am to 5pm

  • 37.5 hours per week
