Estimator (Brighton)

Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Estimator with a minimum of 3 years’ experience with a strong knowledge of manufacturing procedures, materials and sourcing. The candidate will need to demonstrate they can work in a very fast paced office, dealing with multiple quotes at any given time.


To build on the company’s objectives and methodologies and assist in taking the company forward, expanding the client portfolio.


Main Duties

  • Liaise with the projects, production, events and design departments to establish estimates on labour and materials

  • Researching the cost of items such as materials, transport, labour and equipment

  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers

  • Getting quotes from supplies and within specified time frame

  • Be able to estimate design costs, drawing time, workshop hours and confirm deadlines can be met on time

  • Ensure that estimates are competitive within the industry

  • Work closely with the project managers on sourcing for estimates

  • Using Microsoft Excel to input costs of materials and labour to produce clear and accurate estimate forms

  • Manage all estimates, including deadlines of submission to clients on behalf of project management team

  • Developing reports and analysis on project costs

  • Monitoring the costs at the different stages of a project to ensure it stays within the estimated costs

  • Ability to prioritise work load, projects and time efficiently


Qualification’s Skills and Experience

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Sound commercial skills with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in this industry

  • Excel essential, excellent IT skills and ideally Work Flow Max

  • Good knowledge of the materials and processes used in the manufacture of props

  • A self-starting and motivating personality – a ‘can do’ attitude

  • Flexibility

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to plan, prioritise and adapt to changing demands

  • Data entry experience

  • A creative and innovative approach to problem solving

  • Ability to negotiate effectively with both clients and suppliers


Working Hours

  • Mondays to Fridays
