Project Manager (Newhaven)

My client is an acclaimed, award-winning company based just outside Brighton; due to company expansion, they are looking to recruit an experienced Project Manager to oversee the smooth running of projects, ensuring a successful outcome. To endeavour to build and maintain successful client relationships. To build on the company’s objectives and methodologies and assist in taking the Company forward, expanding the client portfolio.

Main Duties


  • Meet / contacting existing and new clients to present the company portfolio, then to brainstorm ideas and agree a project brief.

  • Brainstorm concepts with the other Project Managers and Designers.

  • Design skills in packages such as Photoshop, Illustrator and CAD and/or sketching skills, Sketch up.

  • Design/draw concepts until the client is happy with a design direction/create mood boards when necessary.

  • Develop and present quotations of the concept making sure all material and labour costs are covered. Excel is a necessary skill as part of this role.

  • Negotiate quotations to a successful conclusion.

  • Ensure projects are kept within budget and to schedule and quality assurance is maintained at all times.

  • Use Workflow Max to manage time, budgets, raise all purchase orders and staff hours.

  • Project Manager will need to be flexible with hours when pre-requested and manage installations on site for projects they are running or if assistance is needed.

  • Order all materials needed to fulfil the project and book in all freelancer staff for manufacture. Ensuring all paperwork connected with ordering is complete and filed correctly.

  • Source materials using internet and extending the supplier database.

  • Maintain and develop productive and successful supplier relationships.

  • Brief the Studio and Production team on relevant projects: Brief fully and complete a detailed production pack with all information, time lines of scheduled hours, materials delivery times etc.

  • Make certain correct packaging has been ordered/in stock and is of the correct size and specification for the job in hand.

  • Make sure relevant couriers/designated drivers are arranged or the hire of vehicles if necessary.

  • Prioritise work load and brief the workshop staff to organise studio area for production.

  • Organise extra staff if required and ensure their skills are fully utilised.

  • Keep immediate work area/space clean and tidy.

  • Maintain successful working relationships with production team ensuring there is no shortfall in communication.

  • Work closely with other Project Managers, sharing ideas and offering support and cover where necessary.

  • Be flexible with helping in the workshop when needed

  • To follow the Company’s health and safety policies and procedures; report any safety issues to the Director; and participate in company objectives to be a safe and healthy workplace

  • To research and implement appropriate PPE/safety measures for relevant projects and ensure this is been carried out in the workshop at all times.


Skills and Experience


  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Sound commercial skills with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in this industry.

  • Excel essential and ideally Work flow Max.

  • Good knowledge of the materials and processes used in the manufacture of props.

  • A self-starting and motivating personality – a ‘can do’ attitude.

  • Flexibility.

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to plan, prioritise and adapt to changing demands.

  • A creative and innovative approach to problem solving.

  • Ability to negotiate effectively with both clients and suppliers.

  • Management experience.

  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer.

  • A real team player, a willingness to "get stuck in", as may be asked to do a variety of tasks including tidying up, organising the office and workshop.

  • Own transport.


Working Hours


  • Mondays to Fridays

  • 8.30am-5.00pm


Salary

  • £40,000 to £45,000
