Upholsterer (Hastings)

Our client is seeking experienced, enthusiastic upholsterers and also roles for persons looking to gain a career within upholstery, training is given to help them reach their potential, and to ensure the company is as productive as possible.


Our work is at the top end of the market, so the candidate should be confident in their ability to tackle everything from a loose seat to a deep-buttoned leather Chesterfield. The work is extremely varied and interesting - we are not a monotonous production line type of operation. The ability to think on your feet is essential.


If you are confident, friendly, fairly outgoing and a good communicator, then this would be a fabulous position! Our production team is growing steadily and job potentials for the right candidates.


Main Duties

Trained Upholsterer

  • Able to work with CAD drawings, renders and discussions with the designer to take a frame from its bare form to fully finished product.

  • A thorough understanding of cutting patterns and sewing techniques is required.

  • A candidate with experience in re-upholstery.

  • Able to cut fabrics and multiple materials

  • Able to carry out upholstery projects from start to finish:

o Installing foam and batting to the furniture framework.

o Installing and repairing furniture webbing and seating springs.

o Stretching out and installing fabric or leather coverings.

o Stitching, gluing, and nailing fabric into place.

o Smoothing out imperfections.

o Conducting quality checks on completed orders.

Trainees

  • Full training would be given to new persons, learning the trade


Qualification’s Skills and Experience

Trained Upholsterer

  • Proven work experience as an upholsterer.

  • Excellent design skills.

  • Detail-oriented.

  • Ability to draw and interpret design templates.

  • Knowledge of upholstery tools including hot knives, nail guns, and sewing equipment.

  • Ability to lift, pull, and manipulate heavy objects.

  • Ability to stand, kneel, and walk for up to eight hours a day.

Trainee

  • Basic knowledge of upholstery

  • Ability to learn on the job

  • Good understanding of various measuring tools

  • Good eye for detail

  • Eager to learn and gain new skills


Working Hours

  • Mondays to Fridays

  • Overtime is available
