Regional Business Development Manager (Manchester)

Job Description

Our client operates a prestige finance company specialising in privately funding property development projects across the UK. Due to growth, they are expanding their team of Regional Business Development Managers with the exciting and flexible opportunity to work from home across the UK.


*This is a work from home / home working opportunity*


As this position is home-based, applicants MUST have extensive experience in the same position including experience working with:

  • Alternative finance providers / private investors
  • Property development projects / real estate (high value worth)
  • High street banking and private banking
  • Managing and applying for credit cycles for Borrowers


Opportunities available in the following UK regions:

  • South
  • South East
  • North East


The BDM will be responsible for identifying and managing relationships with Borrowers (property developers mainly) and introducers of loans and be accountable for origination and structuring of new loans and monitor ongoing process with existing loans/projects within designated region with support of other parts of the company where needed.

Main Duties

  • Develop marketing and business development plans to initiate
  • Be accountable for origination of high quality lending opportunities to developers
  • Manage day to day relationships with borrowers, lending introducers and valuers, surveyors and other property professionals
  • Manage first stage loan screening of credit process for loans
  • Build and develop current network of estate agents, accountants, solicitors and other relevant property professionals
  • Stay up to date with current insight, trends, competitor news and market updates/news
  • Manage the communication between the company, borrowers, lending introducers and other relevant professionals/contacts throughout all stages of borrowing process
  • Monitor all projects and conduct site visits / meetings
  • Deal with and resolve issues efficiently and professionally, handling objections and finding solutions
  • Escalate events of concern or default during the life of a loan where appropriate/applicable
  • Ensure all records are kept updated at all times and are not backlogged
  • Diary management and efficient organising of workload and meetings
  • Contribute and manage budgets for the region accountable for


Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge


  • Excellent credit skills relevant to residential property development and bridging
  • Ability to negotiate and structure loans in accordance with credit policy and procedure
  • Familiarity with and understanding of valuation and QS reports
  • Thorough understanding of the legal issues surrounding property development
  • Ability to act as the first stage filter for new loan opportunities
  • Ability to manage a local area and champion the business including development of a business plan
  • Existing local network of clients and property professionals including introducers
  • Clear and precise communication skills both written and verbal
  • Accurate and timely record keeping and activity tracking
  • Ability to work remotely / from home
  • The ability to balance the requirements of a budget with the maintenance of quality and treating customer fairly



  • Extensive experience managing relationships with Borrowers and introducers across different credit cycles
  • Extensive experience originating, structuring and monitoring residential development and bridging loans across different credit cycles
  • Current experience of secured lending, bridge finance, development finance by both corporations and SPVs
  • Current relationships with Borrowers and introducers across their geography in the target loan range of £300,000 to £5,000,000 with the main focus in the £1,000,000 band
  • Previous experience of a highly regulated entity lending to corporations.
  • Proven ability to build and execute business plans to identify lending opportunities
  • Operated recently under the FCA TCF, ALM and KYC frameworks
  • Experience of working in a credit sanctioning department or been involved in producing documents and a business case for sign off by credit sanctioning
  • Involved in loan restructuring and loan work out
  • Worked remotely with effective communication, activity management and record keeping in accordance with FCA requirements
  • Proven ability to balance the requirements of a budget with the maintenance of quality and treating customer fairly
